Already signed up at river cottage and doing our bit by rearing our our cobs for our own table. not hard to do try it. then you will know really where your meat comes from. Just a thought.
If not dig deep and pay the price of a free range chicken and get two meals from it and stop throwing away the good bits that make soups and stews

Also signed up for the chicken out campaign, we keep our own hens for eggs and will soon be getting some for the table.
Although we are lucky as we have a great local butcher who sells local free range medium chickens for £3.25 each or two for £6, so compared to Tesco's cheap intensively farmed chickens at 2 for £5, ONLY 50p more per bird for free range - no contest we will buy free range every time.
