Make your own paper pots is a money saver in the garden, don't buy an expensive "pot maker" chances are you have one in the bathroom :D

Here's a piece I wrote on another forum

Had a go and was pleased with the results - thanks Richyrich.

I used to have one of them heavy-handed logmakers, the ones where you soak paper and squash them into a contraption - for all the time and effort it took, I didn't find it worth it and I ended up giving it to the rag and bone man.

Excellent!!! :Dcan you then plant your seedlings without disturbing the roots and let the paper rot down or does the ink on the paper stop this?? Anyway thanks from me great idea.

By the way I still have my paper brick maker and although I WOULD NOT RELY ON IT FOR MY MAIN FUEL SUPPLY. It still helps out.;)

Hi Wendy - I was thinking about getting one of those paper brick makers - how long does it take to make one brick?

...and Richyrich, do the paper pots rot?

Cheers in advance!

Yes the paper pots rot away once in the soil, but they hold long enough for seedlings to develop upto transplant size easy. We had a paper brick maker they are ok as a stand by but they take an age to dry I have some from June and they are still a little damp in the centre.
