Hi all thought I would try to start this off some how.

Over the last couple of weeks been frantically re-filling seed trays as the seedlings have been taken out and put in their growing spots . Everything seems to be growing at an astonishing rate. I put some cucumber seeds in last week and they are already a good inch high. At the minute its go-go-go.

Mind you we could do with a good downpour as the ground is very dry here, I'm having to water the plants every night, not good when Im waiting till 10:00 untill the sun goes down and then spending an hour watering the veg.

this is really the first year I've made a huge effort to get the grounds worked. i have the help of a new rotorvator that makes life a lot easier and allows me to keep well ahead of the weeds . Over the previous years it was just me and my trusty spade which the weeds kept getting ahead of me.

Ive also started to do farmers markets and will be attendin some of the local agricultural shows. Here I sell the home made chutneys andlater on in the year the excess veg will be sold.

the front field of about 1 acre is in need of some work. A friend ploughed and rotorvated it last year and then planted potato seed. Within a couple of weeks thee grass and weeds took over and we did'nt get a harvest from it. I dont like to but Im going to have to think about weedkiller and then use my rotorvator on it . We'll see wht happens.

I'm trying to get rid of the pigs, this is now an expensive part of the holding which is not paying, no one seems to want them so they are gradually going to slaughter, only 13 to go.

The shed they are in is wooden so the idea is to strip off the metal roof sheets ,wooden sides and turn this into a 40ft x 20 ft greenhouse.

Our brick outhouse is to be developed into kitchens , and the yard area roofed and used for storage.

Well thats it for now ,catch up when I've got a bit more spare time:cool:

Hi from me

I had to get rid of the pigs too due to rising feed costs . :(We are into turkeys at the moment the breeding has gone well and we have turkey poults growing well and fast. They do not eat much more than chickens and grow fast they free range well and go broody and raise their own without having to take the stag away so no need to build yet another house !!  and they are great company. :DWe are now going onto ducks for eggs in the winter and meat. We chose Muscovy's we have a breeding pair complete with 12 ducklings so off to a good start. :cool:We are building a tractor shed for the fergie T20 and its topper which I am getting used to handling!!! it is a bit hairy at times. :shock:We are growing more veg this year and the cucumbers have gone mad but the runner beans are slow and for some reason no blossom on the fruit trees so no fruit? apart from the cherries strange:? The chicken are once again paying for the raising or the turkeys and young stock and giving us eggs to eat. we just cant produce enough eggs as fast as we put them out at the gate they go we think there is an alert system in the village!!! Unfortunately we hade all of our early hatching's wiped out by a lose dog who jumped into every pen and killed them it was heart breaking:(:X But we get over it and move on:)
