FOR 20 years Lesley Mabon donned her best pinstripe suit and battled through the morning rush hour to get to her desk job in the city.
Like so many city slickers, working nine to five fulfilled no great dreams or ambitions but the accountant's salary was healthy and life in the rat race bustled along.
Until one day - when she decided to ditch it all for a more eco-friendly lifestyle. A spur of the moment decision, she had seen a shock report on the amount of plastic carrier bags wasted every year and the effects this was having on wildlife and the environment.
Lesley, 45, of West Didsbury, thought she could do something about it by setting up an eco-friendly bag business. And so she did.
"Once I came up with a solution, it was the decision made, I couldn't go back. I so much wanted to give myself an opportunity to try," she explains.
Now into its second year, her business - The Good Bag Company - is doing very well thank you very much. Producing 100 per cent biodegradable bags made from jute, Lesley and her partner Alan, have found business buoyed by the current trend for all things green.
Ensuring that every bag is printed with a feelgood message, Lesley's success in her new line of work seems like a triumph for positive thinking. But she says that's all it takes to really change your lifestyle.
