BRITISH mums will fork out a whopping £1,573 extra a year in the supermarket if they choose eco-friendly products.
And although nine out of ten of them believe in doing their bit for the environment, half admit they don’t buy green because it’s too expensive.
In fact a survey by online community Netmums reveals that the number of mums who shun eco products is much higher.
Netmums’ Siobhan Freegard put the responses to the test and went out on two family shopping trips – in one case buying market-leading brands, then the equivalent ethical and environmentally responsible alternatives from the same supermarket.
