Recently surfing the net I found a property to let "Two storey Grade II listed 19th century farmhouse in need of complete renovation and will be let on a full repairing and insuring 7.5 year lease."
I telephoned the Agent - who couldn't tell me what rooms were in the house, but said that no services were connected and that a SCHEDULE OF WORKS would be included in the Lease which would have to be adhered to.
So, basically, you pay the landlord £400.00 a month to completely renovate his house for him. As the house stands in its present form, you couldn't even move in anyway.
Apparently, so the Agent says, this is common practice now. Well, I've never heard of anything so stupid before.
I can understand the owner saying live here for a nominal rent, say £10.00 a week, and do the house up for me... but ... £100.00 - seems barking to me.
What do you all think?

| What a cheek! And no doubt once all the work is completed to the landlord's satisfaction at the end of the Lease, he'll put the property on the market.
