Just thought it would be good to have a weather thread so we can see whats going on around the country.
Today in North Cumbria it has been clear and bright with a bit of warmth in the Sun.
Warm enough to work outside without a fleeced shirt or wooly hat and gloves.

We had hail to add to the howls last night and the garden looked liked it had taken a good thrashing this morning. I like it fresh, but not so that it takes my breath away

We have had 4 sunny almost warm days and another hen has gone broody! All my summer hatchings are now laying. and 8 week and 12 week chicks are out in the paddock. The paddocks that are not in use need mowing!!!. This end s the weather report from sunny norfolk reporting .

very windy last night , kept us awake most of the night listening to the house creak . got up ths morning to the garden shed trying to get in the back door and all its belongings scatterd over the garden ,all that is left of the shed is a broken mound of timber. Never mind, on the bright side the roof managed to stay on the animal out house this time.

This morning we've been bombarded with heavy rain and even heavier hail - the noise was horrendous - enough to scare the cats.
All is calm again now

I went down the garden this morning to fill the outside water buckets for the chooks and heard a banging noise, looked back up the garden and the roof of the shed that I use as a 'hospital' when any of the chooks have been pecked was going up and down like a big mouth, and its got a cockerel and 5 hens in it at the moment.
I ran up the garden and banged on the kitchen window to get Brian outside and held it down while he went to get hammer and nails. When it was a bit secure, I went inside to see if they were all okay and the drinking bell that was hanging from the roof was empty where it had all tipped out and the galvanised feeder had pulled its hook completely straight and was sitting on the floor. Luckily. the chooks are okay!
Then usually I open the polytunnel up for them to dust bathe in when the weather is c**p, but we couldn't this morning in case the wind took that as well, so the chooks weren't pleased until I opened it up about lunchtime!! Its still VERY windy here tonight, but nothing like it was this morning.
