Well good luck with search I hope you find one soon. I could not afford a smallholding but an arable field came up for sale in the village and I bought it . I have spent 20years planting hedges putting up fences laying on water and waiting for the grass to grow. Then a house came up for sale and the garden backed onto the field so we bought that and put the 2 together. a bit of a long way round I know, but it was the only way I could afford it. I do not regret a day spent on the land it always makes me smile. Hard work but worth it.
Thanks Wendy, I've been looking at some equestrian properties over the last week or two and just wondered about feasability, as some are just abought in our price range.
I bought a field and turned into pony paddocks and when my daughter grew up and left home I have now turned it into a smallholding. The only problem I had was when I wanted to put up a stable. Because horses are classed as domestic animals (unless they are used to plough or work the land). So I had to put the stable up at the bottom of the garden. But now I have agricultural animals I can put up sheds and pig arks to house them. Its a mad mad world. So as long as the land is agriculture land you should not have a problem but if it is residential land you may have problems. I hope this helps.
