FARMERS across West Lancashire have received a boost from Prince Charles.
They have welcomed his calls for people to buy locally-grown produce.
Writing for Farmers Weekly, the Prince said: “Instead of primarily trying to compete in the global commodity markets, we can focus first on producing quality foods for ourselves.
“In this uncertain world there is much to be said for every country recovering greater control over its own food strategies.”
Tarleton farmer Peter Ascroft and wife, Rosalind, of Worthington’s Farm, Park Lane, supply Booths supermarkets with fresh produce, as well as selling wholesale.
