Me again, I've popped in to pick everyone's brains as I'm sure you're more experienced than me. I want to get into this self-sufficiency bit - I don't have a very large garden and was wondering if anyone can offer any advice on what vegetables or fruit I can grow in pots and can you mix things together.

Thank you in anticipation :D

You could try growing potatoes in grow bags - keeps them contained and saves loads of digging. :D

lots of things can be grown in pots, it all depends on how much space you have that will hold you back, and if you have a window or glass frame you can use as a make shift green house. as long as the plant does not need a large root ball then you wont have any problems, cabbages, caulis, strawberries, (carrots ,parsnips, etc will need a deeper pot about 18" will do), lettuce, tomatoes, onions,etc.etc.etc. A friend of mine has bought miniture fruit trees and put those in pots in his yard. Never be afraid to try something. good luck.

We have 6 acres and still grow things in containers it saves the weeding. Last years christmas brussels where grown on tubs and very tasty they were. We grow them in our own compost.   So get composting.
