River cottage has come with the idea of land shareing. Seems a great idea to me.

What do you think:)

Hi Wendy - I haven't heard about it, but it does sound like a good idea.

It's just a pity I don't have any land to share :(

If everyone could do a bit of cosmic praying for me and hubbs, that would be really great!

All together now ...

(My fingers are crossed .... )

;)

I think it's so fraught with problems that it's not going to work, not only that I personally feel it will give a lot of councils an excuse to dodge out of their legal obligations to provide allotment sites so eventually people could suffer

Well I dont know about that richyrich

I have a 2 acrea paddock that I do not use and would love someone to make use of it in exchange for some produce.

I know you would have to be careful and get a lease written out etc.

I have put my name into the rivercottage  land share register so will wait and see what happens.

Prayer said for you Anita :D

Thanks for the prayer, Wendy.

When I get a chance I'll take a look at the River Cottage web site and put some information on the site here about the Land Share idea, with links.

Cheers

Hi Wendy

I've created a dedicated category for Landshare under Organics & Gardening:

http://www.smallholders-forums.co.uk/view_topic.php?id=312&forum_id=37

Having read more about it, I think it's a very good idea and I hope it is successful when it launches early next year.

Thanks anita
I think its a great way to get people together growing thier own and keeping a few hens perhaps. I only use 2 acre,s my self and we keep pigs turkeys ducks chikens and grow a few veg I have planted a few fruit trees and we get a lot back from it. So yes richyrich managed properly I think you could live off it. All I do with the rest is mow it so it is a waste.
